❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Pakistani basmati rice?
Yes. Falak Extreme is extra-long 1121 basmati rice from Pakistan, GI-Tag certified for authentic basmati origin.
Is it good for biryani?
Yes. Our longest grain, it stays separate and doubles in length, which is why it is our first choice for biryani, pulao and zarda.
How much water for 1 cup of rice?
Rinse thoroughly and soak 25 minutes. Open pan: 5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice, boil uncovered 6–7 minutes on medium heat, then drain and rinse with more boiling water. Closed pan: 2 cups of water per cup of rice, cover and simmer 9–10 minutes, then rest covered 5 minutes.
Can I cook it in the microwave?
Yes. Put the soaked rice and water in a bowl, stir once, cover with plastic wrap and cook 6 minutes. Let it stand 10 minutes. In a 650 watt microwave, cook less than 1½ cups of rice at a time.
Is Falak Extreme Basmati really non-sticky?
Yes. Aged 1121 basmati is naturally low in surface starch, so the grains stay separate when you rinse and soak first.
Which size should I buy?
The 2 lb bag is great for smaller households or trying it out; the 10 lb bag is the family favorite and best value.
Is it Halal, Kosher, and Non-GMO?
Yes, all three, plus GI-Tag certified for authentic basmati origin.
